Xiaomi Book S 12.4″ shows the potential of the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 on Geekbench

Xiaomi unveiled its ambitious 2-in-1 hybrid laptop earlier this week in the heart of the city of lights. Now, we know the first tests and results of points of reference a Xiaomi Book S 12.4″ and respective processor Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 gives Qualcomm.

It should be noted that these tests were done on the Geekbench platform, but synthetic tests don’t always necessarily translate to real-world performance. However, they are good indicators of what we can reasonably expect from technological teams.

First of all, the new Xiaomi Book S 12.4″ hybrid uses the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 processor with 7nm lithography. It is a recent SoC (ARM), created to be applied to mobile devices focused on work, productivity and portability.

Looking at the marker we see 760 test points single core score, as well as a total of 3072 points in the evaluation multicore score. This will be, from then on, our reference value, as the publication points out for the first time xiaomi.

In other words, the results are very similar, although in some cases the tests multiple core exceed the threshold of 3,000 points. This is not the case with the new Xiaomi Book S 12.4″ hybrid.

No competition for Apple’s M1 processor

The Apple M1 processor, presented in 2020, is present, for example, in the Apple iPad Pro tablet in its top configuration, also focused on work and productivity. Therefore, we could ask ourselves how the new Xiaomi Book S 12.4″ with its Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 processor would compare against the “heart” of Apple.

However, the results are not up to par, as Apple’s processor far outperforms Qualcomm’s chipset. In short, Qualcomm has a long way to go to offer an ARM processor comparable to Apple’s chipsets.
