Switch Pro: 4K development kits surface, Nintendo continues to deny

The Nintendo Switch OLED wouldn’t be the only console Nintendo has in the pipeline, as Bloomberg claims that at least 11 studios have already received development kits to create games in 4K.

New report saysat least 11 different game studios received development kits for an even more powerful Switch, since it would be 4K compatible. ” Employees at 11 game companies said their teams were in possession of Nintendo’s 4K development kit for the Switch. The companies span the globe, from large publishers to small studios, and include at least one that has never made a console game before, Zynga Inc, according to employees, who asked not to be identified because they were not allowed to discuss their projects publicly Can we read in the report.

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard from developers working on 4K games., since already in September 2020, Nintendo would have asked the studios to be ready to make their games compatible with 4K.

Nintendo denies everything, no new console is planned

It is rare for a large company to categorically deny an entire report, but Nintendo has officially denied in a press release the allegations that it was pushing developers to create games in 4K definition for a “Switch Pro” handheld console.

In order to ensure a good understanding on the part of our investors and our clients, we would like to point out that this information is false. We also want to reaffirm that, as we announced in July, we have no plans for a new model other than the Nintendo Switch – OLED model, which will launch on October 8, 2021. Only a few months before the launch of the OLED Switch, Nintendo had also assured not to work on a new model. Unless all 11 different studios are lying about 4K development kits, So it could be that the Japanese company is bluffing once again and that it finally unveils a new console next year.

Indeed, the report also claims that Nintendo is still planning to release a “Switch Pro” by the end of 2022 at the earliest. We also know that it could finally be called Super Switch, which would correspond better to Nintendo’s DNA. This would use NVIDIA’s DLSS technology in particular to allow games to run in 4K.
