Samsung’s AI features are coming to these 2021 and 2022 smartphones

The upcoming One UI 6.1 update will bring AI features to select Samsung smartphones launching in 2021 and 2022. This confirmation comes after previous reports suggested that these devices could lack AI features.

However, there is a small disadvantage. 2021 flagships, including the Galaxy S21 series, Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3, will have access to a limited number of AI features.

These features include Google’s “Surround to Search” feature and a chat support feature that the ad calls “Magic Rewrite.” Chat Assist allows users to customize the tone and style of messages using the Samsung keyboard.

The flagships of 2022, including the series Galaxy S22, Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy Z Flip 4 and the Galaxy Tab S8 series, You get a wider range of Galaxy AI features.

However, they will lack the Instant Slow Motion feature, which allows users to slow down videos by long-pressing on the screen. According to a Samsung Korea community moderator, hardware limitations of the Exynos and Snapdragon chips used in these devices before 2023 prevent this functionality from being supported.

Here’s a breakdown of the devices getting One UI 6.1 with Galaxy AI features:

Flagships 2021:

  • Galaxy S21 series
  • Galaxy Z Fold 3
  • Galaxy Z Flip 3 (limited features)

Flagships 2022:

  • Galaxy S22 series
  • Galaxy Z Fold 4
  • Galaxy Z Flip 4
  • Galaxy Tab S8 series

The update is scheduled to roll out in early May, but this time frame could be specific to the Korean market.

Samsung has not yet announced a detailed global rollout schedule, so users in other regions may receive the update later in May or even later.
