Qualcomm’s upcoming flagship chip, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2, has been making waves with its impressive performance scores. Recently, it was put to the test on AnTuTu’s platform, where it achieved a record-breaking 3.8 million points. This surpasses the iQOO 13, which is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite and scored 2.69 million points.
But that’s not all – the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 also underwent testing on Geekbench, with results that mirrored its AnTuTu performance. The chip’s GPU, the Adreno 840, boasts a higher clock speed of 1.35 GHz, compared to the Adreno 830’s 1.1 GHz. Here are the details:
- Single-Core CPU test: 4,000 points (up from the Snapdragon 8 Elite’s 3,200 points)
- Multi-Core CPU test: 13,000 points (up from the Snapdragon 8 Elite’s 10,300 points)
- GPU test: Adreno 840 with a clock speed of 1.35 GHz
These scores represent a 25% and 20% increase in Single-Core and Multi-Core performance, respectively. Despite TSMC’s development of 2-nanometer technology, Qualcomm is expected to stick with the 3-nanometer process for the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2.
While the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2’s performance is undoubtedly impressive, its price may be affected by the US tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump. This could lead to a higher price point for the chip, which in turn may drive up the cost of flagship smartphones in 2026. By sticking with the 3-nanometer process, Qualcomm may be attempting to mitigate the impact of rising production costs.
