Bruce Nesmith, the original gameplay designer behind The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, has expressed his amazement at the newly released remastered version of the game. In a recent interview with VideoGamer, Nesmith revealed that he was pleasantly surprised by the game’s quality, exceeding his initial expectations.
Nesmith had anticipated a simple texture update, but what he got was a complete overhaul. The remastered version features new animations, a transition to the Unreal Engine, a revamped leveling system, and a redesigned user interface. Bethesda and Virtuos spared no effort in reworking almost every aspect of the game.
The result is a game that Nesmith believes does justice to the original, calling it “Oblivion 2.0.” While some might argue that the extensive changes warrant a “remake” label, Bethesda stuck with “remastered,” aiming to preserve the original’s essence.
A Comprehensive Revamp
The remastered version’s upgrades are not limited to visuals. The game’s underlying mechanics have been significantly improved, making it a more polished experience. Nesmith’s praise is a testament to the hard work put in by Bethesda and Virtuos.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is now available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Game Pass. Fans of the original game can now experience it in a whole new light.
