Cristiano Ronaldo is on track to be immortalized in the Maracanã Stadium’s Walk of Fame in Rio de Janeiro. The Portuguese captain has expressed his desire to leave his mark on the iconic stadium. Talks between Ronaldo’s team and the Maracanã’s management have been ongoing since early April.
Ronaldo is being represented by Charles Cardoso, a business partner of his sister Elma Aveiro. Notably, this will be Ronaldo’s first time playing at the Maracanã, despite having played in Brazil twice before.
Eusébio was the first non-Brazilian player to be honored in the Walk of Fame, which was established in 2000. Other international players to receive this recognition include Franz Beckenbauer, Alcides Ghiggia from Uruguay, Elias Figueroa from Chile, Romerito from Paraguay, and Dejan Petkovic from Serbia. If Ronaldo’s bid is successful, he’ll be the second Portuguese player to join this prestigious group.
What does it take to be immortalized?
The Maracanã’s management has shown willingness to make Ronaldo’s dream a reality. While details of the negotiations remain under wraps, it’s clear that Ronaldo’s team is working hard to make this happen.
