As of today, YouTube Music is included in Wear OS 2 smartwatches. The app supports offline listening.
So, if you are a YouTube Music Premium subscriber and you have a Wear OS smartwatch, you can download songs for offline listening without interruptions for ads.
YouTube Music allows you to listen to music on the smartwatch without the phone
For now, this app will only be available on select Wear OS 2 models, namely Fossil Gen 6 (pictured), TicWatch E3, and Mobvoi Tick Watch Pro 3 GPS. To achieve this, users simply download the application on Google Play.
The YouTube Music app allows users to download music that they can then listen to offline on their smartwatch. It also allows you to listen to a selection of tracks, during a training session, without the need for a smartphone.
YouTube Music without streaming
According to 9to5Google, users have access to their playlists, but there doesn’t seem to be a way to stream music tracks directly. In other words, they really need to download it.
Also according to the same website, the Wear OS smartwatch will have to be on the charger and connected to a Wi-Fi network to start the offline download of music files. Which means there is no transmission.
Google is also teasing that the app will launch for more devices later this year. However, YouTube Music is not the only option available for Wear OS. Last month, Spotify also released offline listening functionality for Wear OS 2.
