In a rather unexpected move, Elon Musk has temporarily suspended his offer to buy Twitter.
At the origin of the decision are the “pending details” about the calculation mechanism that advances that the social network has less than 5% of fake and/or spam accounts.
Elon Musk is concerned about the number of fake Twitter accounts
Elon Musk’s takeover of Twitter is looking more and more like a series with a convoluted plot that unfolds over several seasons. In one of the “last episodes”, the protagonist, Elon Musk, suspended the acquisition of that social network.
It seems that the person in charge of Tesla is concerned about the number of false and/or Spam accounts present on Twitter and the algorithm that the social network uses to calculate these two elements.
Musk’s decision came after the platform released a report revealing that Twitter had less than 5% of fake accounts. It is public knowledge that the social network does not have the best track record when it comes to this type of count.
Remember that Twitter already made technical errors when calculating the number of daily users, leading to higher estimates that didn’t accurately reflect the number of people who use that social platform on a daily basis.
Considering that Elon Musk is preparing (or was preparing) to invest $44 billion in the acquisition of Twitter, it is natural that any possibility of a technical error would worry the Tesla strongman and even lead him to back out of the deal. .
However, Elon Musk has already made public that he intends to finalize the agreement and effectively acquire that social network, now the question seems to be the date on which this will happen.
