The trailer for the second season of popular comedy-drama ‘Panchayat’ was released on Monday at a five-star property in Mumbai’s Juhu area. Speaking on the occasion, actor Jitendra Kumar shares: “Growing up within the confines of a small town, I was able to relate to Abhishek’s dilemmas and hesitations from day one, even though it was time for him to transition to rural life. It was a great challenge.”
He further mentioned, “This resonance somewhere helped me get into the skin of the character and play him better. As a character, a constant oscillation of wanting to make him big but supportive of the villagers.” “
“Working with such a talented cast on Season 2 was an incredible experience and I look forward to the world premiere of Panchayat Season 2.” Carrying the narrative forward, the second season delves into the life of the village of Phulera and brings new challenges for Abhishek as he rises from engineer to panchayat secretary.
Showcasing the daily tribulations of rural life, the trailer opens up to Abhishek’s growing friendship with Pradhan (rehearsed by Raghubir Yadav), Vikas, Prahlad and Manju Devi as the former begins to search for his land in Phulera.
Manish Menghani, Head of Content Licensing at Amazon Prime Video, says: “Panchayat is a simple, relevant and moving story of human emotion, told through a variety of characters who have nothing in common. As before, this season it also depicts a life far from urban drudgery, beautifully woven by an incredible ensemble of actors.”
He further added, “This series is a step forward in our fruitful partnership with TVF, which has unrivaled storytelling prowess. The first season received a remarkable response and we look forward to repeating it as well.” ‘Panchayat’ director Deepak Kumar Mishra has described the story as ‘a simple but clever portrait of life in rural India’. Starring Jitendra Kumar, Raghuveer Yadav and Neena Gupta, ‘Panchayat 2’ will have its world premiere on May 20 on Prime Video.
