: While there were moments of happiness for many films and artists at the IIFA Awards, many were also disappointed. Alia Bhatt’s film ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, garnered three awards. The film won three technical awards at IIFA Rock Night. The film won awards for cinematography by Sudip Chatterjee, screenplay by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Utkarshini Vashisht, and dialogue by Utkarshini Vashisht and Prakash Kapadia. The 23rd three-day edition of IIFA kicked off on Friday evening at Yas Island in Abu Dhabi.
On the other hand, after ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’, Karthik Aryan and Kiara Advani’s horror comedy ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’, directed by Anees Bazmee, also got hit. Bhool Bhulaiyaa-2 won Mandar Kulkarni for Best Sound Design in Title Track and Bosco Caesar for Choreography.
While editing Ajay Devgan’s crime thriller ‘Drishyam 2’, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt’s action adventure ‘Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva’ also received awards. Alongside this, Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan’s ‘Vikram Vedha’ and ‘Monica O My Darling’ starring Rajkumar Rao, Huma Qureshi and Radhika Apte also received awards.
During the programme, performance by Amit Trivedi, Badshah, Sunidhi Chauhan, Sukhbir Singh, Palak Muchhal and Yulia Vantur along with choreographer and director Farah Khan and Rajkumar Rao added to the charm of the show.
The musical program of the awards ceremony began with a dance performance by Palak Muchhal. After this, Farah Khan also did the dance for him on the platform. Along with this, Rajkumar Rao took the stage while performing the song ‘Main Hoon Na’ and both of them also recreated a scene from ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’. During this, the fun chemistry between the two wowed the audience.
At the same time, great performance by Jacqueline Fernandez, Rakul Preet Singh and Nora Fatehi was also seen at the award show. Along with this, the melodious voice of Sunidhi Chauhan and the powerful rapping of Badshah were also heard.
