The iPhone 13 mini continues to disappoint in autonomy. But why?

The iPhone 13 mini was released in 2021 as a true rarity in the smartphone market. It offers the power of a true top of the range in a 5.4-inch screen.

But that size and the tiny 2406mAh battery mean that it is not a wonder in terms of autonomy. This is confirmed by the tests carried out by DxOMark, where it achieved a very modest 62 points.

The @Apple #iphone13mini is well optimized and has excellent download efficiency, but due to its very small #battery and 20W charger, it cannot offer much in terms of autonomy and charging. #DXOMARK #revision: https://t.co/rB4huyjYl8#Apple #iphone13series pic.twitter.com/zMMh2JQ12y

This score places him in 13th place ranking cousin, behind the Samsung Galaxy S21 (63). In the world ranking, the drop is greater, since it is only in 46th place. And DxOMark explains why.

Although the iPhone 13 mini received a 9.5% increase in battery capacity compared to the iPhone 12 mini, that only earns it 3 more points in this ranking. Night consumption is an advantage, but the general autonomy is poor.

The team achieved 25 hours of intense use (7 hours active) in tests. In moderate use, you get 41 hours of autonomy, with 4 hours of activity. Already in light use, the tests say that it can reach 59 hours of autonomy with 2h30 of activity.

If you want a truly compact smartphone, the iPhone 13 mini is the best and most powerful on the market. But autonomy is still not one of its strengths due to the limitation of size and thickness.
