Samsung has finally decided to implement “seamless” Android updates

When you download and install an update on a Samsung device, you usually need to restart your phone to complete the process. And while that’s happening, you’ll have to wait without being able to use your device until it’s all over.

According to The Mobile Indian, the Galaxy A55 is the first Samsung phone to receive a seamless Android update with the latest patch in March 2024. With this change, Samsung has introduced a split progress bar to indicate that the update is taking place.

After reviewing the software update screen, users noticed two phases of installation: the “Download and Installation” phase and the “Verification” phase.

This means you no longer have to wait long while your phone installs system updates. Your device will silently install the update in the background and all you have to do is restart your phone to apply it.

Samsung’s embrace of seamless updates isn’t a complete surprise. In 2022, a Samsung executive revealed the plans and confirmed that the company was presenting plans to implement them. Now it looks like the company has finally made it.

What’s really interesting is this Samsung has decided to introduce this feature in one of its mid-range phones rather than reserving it for flagship models like the Galaxy S24 series.
