Anthony Rizzo hit a three-run homer in the seventh inning to widen the gap in what was a tight game, and the New York Yankees beat the Minnesota Twins 10-4 on Tuesday night.

The Yankees overcame an unusually poor start by Jameson Taillon and strung together their seventh straight victory.

Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton sparked the visitors’ attack with homers in the first inning. It’s the 23rd time the two have homered in the same game in their five seasons together.

The Yankees have lost only once when that happens, on Aug. 12 at the Field of Dreams game.

New York (40-15) leads the Major Leagues with the best record after 55 games since Seattle in 2001.

Taillon, who pitched a perfect seven innings in his previous start, was retired this time in the fifth with no out. The Twins had nine hits off him and scored four runs on him.

Jorge Polanco went 4-for-4 with two RBIs, including a home run off Taillon, the first allowed by a Yankees pitcher in six games.

Lucas Luetge (2-2) resolved an episode and two thirds to take the victory as a reliever.

The loss went to Cole Sands (0-2).

For the Yankees, no Latin Americans hit.

For the Twins, the Venezuelans Luis Arráez 4-2 with a run scored, Jermaine Palacios 3-1 with an RBI. Puerto Rican José Miranda 1-0. The Dominicans Polanco 5-4 with a run scored and two RBIs, Gary Sánchez 4-0, Gilberto Celestino 4-1. Colombian Gio Urshela 4-2 with a run scored.
