Jasper Vingegaard’s Return: ‘Small but Significant Win’ for the Danish Cycling Pro

Vingegaard is back: "It's a small victory for me"

Cycling News: Vingegaard Shines in San Luca Stage

Jonas Vingegaard, the Danish cyclist, made a strong impression in the second stage of the Tour, climbing the San Luca ramps for the second time and keeping pace with his rival Tadej Pogacar. Vingegaard’s performance has alleviated concerns about his fitness after a brutal fall in the Itzulia, and he expressed satisfaction with his condition, stating, "It’s a small victory for me that I was able to follow Pogacar."

Vingegaard’s teammate, Jorgenson, praised his leader’s performance, saying, "It was impressive how Jonas ran. I’m very proud of him. I noticed that his self-confidence grew." The entire Visma team was relieved to see Vingegaard back in top form, with Grischa Niermann, the team director, commenting, "Jonas is showing that he is fine, but the Tour lasts three weeks. We’ll see it day by day, but we can certainly be happy with what we saw yesterday."

The team’s concerns about Vingegaard’s fitness were alleviated after the second stage, but Niermann emphasized that the Tour is a three-week event, and Vingegaard will face more challenging stages ahead. The team is hoping to overcome the Rimini stage more easily than the Bologna one, which was a difficult scenario for them.

Tomorrow’s stage will be the longest of the Tour, covering 230 kilometers, and will serve as a test of Vingegaard’s endurance. The climb to the Galibier giant will be a true indicator of his fitness, and the team is looking forward to seeing how he performs.
