iPhone 14 Pro Max breaks 15 screen records in DisplayMate tests

The iPhone 14 Pro Max is Apple’s latest flagship and, as usual with the brand’s handsets, it comes with an excellent display.

Now, the smartphone has passed DisplayMate screen tests with an excellent result as it got an overall grade of A+ in the tests.

According to DisplayMatethe iPhone 14 Pro Max has a 2300 nits peak brightness and infinite contrast ratio. While Apple specifies a maximum brightness rating of 2,000 nits for the iPhone 14 Pro Max, testing revealed 2,300 nits and the lowest screen reflectance recorded by DisplayMate (4.5%).

Tests also revealed the highest contrast ratio in ambient light. There are some test components that resulted in near-perfect scores, such as white color accuracy, absolute color accuracy, image contrast accuracy, intensity scale, and peak luminance.

All in all, the iPhone 14 Pro Max set 15 screen registers:

  • Maximum white color accuracy (0.2 JNCD for sRGB and 0.2 JNCD for DCI-P3) – Visually indistinguishable from perfection.
  • Highest absolute color accuracy (0.5 JNCD for sRGB and 0.5 JNCD for DCI-P3) – Visually indistinguishable from perfection.
  • Small change in color accuracy with APL (0.3 JNCD for sRGB and 0.3 JNCD for DCI-P3) – Visually indistinguishable from perfection.
  • Lowest maximum color shift with APL (0.9 JNCD for sRGB and 0.8 JNCD for DCI-P3) – Visually indistinguishable from perfection.
  • Higher image contrast and intensity scale accuracy (2.22 Gamma) – Visually indistinguishable from perfection.
  • Less change in image contrast and intensity scale with APL (0.00 Gamma) – Visually indistinguishable from perfection.
  • Smallest change in peak luminance with APL (1%) – Visually indistinguishable from perfection.
  • Highest full-screen brightness for OLED smartphones (1026 nits at 100% APL).
  • Maximum peak display brightness (2307 nits for low APL in high ambient light).
  • Maximum contrast ratio (infinity).
  • Lower screen reflectance (4.5%).
  • Higher contrast ratio in ambient light (228 for APL 100% and 513 for maximum brightness).
  • Less variation in brightness with viewing angle (25% at 30 degrees).
  • Less white color variation with viewing angle (1.5 JNCD at 30 degrees).
  • Maximum viewable screen resolution 2.8K (2796×1290) – 4K doesn’t look visually sharper on a smartphone.
