Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles (VWN) has the ID. Buzz GTX presented (the “GTX” stands for the most powerful models of VW’s electric cars, similar to the GTI for combustion engines). This is the performance-enhanced version of the normal ID. Buzz, i.e. the purely electric VW bus (which is also available as a transporter version as the ID. Buzz Pro). This default ID. Buzz has an output of 150 kW / 204 hp.
The now presented ID. Buzz GTX, on the other hand, comes with 250 kW (340 hp). There has never been this much power in a VW bus ex works! This makes the ID Buzz GTX the most powerful VW bus of all time. The ID. Buzz GTX accelerates to 100 km/h in around 6.5 seconds (prediction) and offers optimal traction on any surface thanks to all-wheel drive. The top speed of both GTX models is electronically limited to 160 km/h.

The ID. Buzz GTX sells Volkswagen commercial vehicles VNW in two wheelbases: The ID. Buzz GTX with standard wheelbase has a 79 kWh battery, the ID. Long wheelbase Buzz GTX gets an 86 kWh battery. All-wheel drive is always standard: an electric motor on the front and rear axles provides the 4MOTION all-wheel drive.
The ID. Buzz GTX is also suitable as a tractor. With a trailer load of up to 1,800 kg (for the ID. Buzz GTX with a long wheelbase; for the ID. Buzz GTX with a normal wheelbase it is 1,600 kg) and all-wheel drive, the ID. Buzz GTX also as an electric towing vehicle for bike, boat or horse trailers. For comparison: The ID. Buzz can tow a maximum of 1000 kg.

The touchscreen of the infotainment system is 12.9 inches. The voice assistant IDA with ChatGPT integration is available for voice control. A head-up display is available for an additional charge. As usual, there are numerous driver assistance systems.

Optical characteristics
The ID. Buzz GTX gets an individualized front section (bumper, air deflectors, ventilation grilles, air deflectors, GTX lettering, exterior mirror housings and new standard 19-inch “Venlo” alloy wheels). VWN also sells two optional 21-inch alloy wheels called “Caracas”. (black) and “Townsville” (black with a high-sheen surface). The ID. Buzz GTX is equipped with “IQ.LIGHT – LED matrix headlights” as standard.

Exclusively for the ID. Buzz GTX offers VWN the new “Cherry Red” paint finish. This red will be configurable as a plain paint finish and optionally in combination with “Mono Silver Metallic” as a two-tone paint finish. There will also be a further six plain and four two-tone paint finishes to choose from.
There are dark colors in the interior to emphasize the sporty character. The GTX is equipped with a black headliner. There are also visual peculiarities in the seats and the steering wheel.
The ID. Buzz with a long wheelbase will now be optionally available with the “Smart Glass” panoramic roof, in whose multilayer glass a liquid crystal film is integrated that can be switched electronically transparent or opaque (privacy mode with light and heat protection).

Seats and cargo space
The ID. Buzz GTX with standard wheelbase is available as a five-seater with a 40:60 split three-seater bench in the second row of seats (2/3) or as a six-seater with two individual seats in the second and third rows of seats (2/2/2). The extended ID. Buzz GTX can also be configured as a five-seater with a three-seater bench (2/3) and as a six-seater (2/2/2); In addition, this version is offered as a seven-seater with a three-seater bench in the second row and two individual seats in the third row (2/3/2). The seats in the second rows can be moved lengthwise by 150 mm (standard wheelbase) or 200 mm (long wheelbase). The front passenger seat, the outer seats of the second row and the seats of the third row are also equipped with ISOFIX child seat anchors.
The luggage compartment volume of the ID. As a five-seater, the Buzz GTX (normal wheelbase) is between 1,121 liters (load up to the top edge of the rear seat backrests) and 2,123 liters (rear seat bench folded down, load up to the top edge of the front seat backrests). The extended ID. Buzz GTX, on the other hand, offers a volume of 1,340 liters when loaded up to the top edge of the backrests of the second row of seats. Will the big ID. When the Buzz GTX is loaded behind the first row of seats, the volume increases to 2,469 liters. With seven people seated behind the third row of seats in the ID. Buzz still has a volume of 306 liters. Depending on the seat configuration, both ID. Buzz GTX can be equipped with a long or short Multiflex board (including two folding boxes). The Multiflex board creates a second loading level and – when the rear seats are folded down – a flat loading area.
Sales start
The market launch of both ID. Buzz GTX will take place in the second half of 2024; Advance sales will start in the summer. VWN has not yet commented on the price. The prices for the normal ID. Buzz starts at 64,581.30 euros and for the Cargo at 57,375.85 euros. The top model GTX is likely to be priced significantly higher.
