Govinda’s bond with his mother, Nirmala Devi, was incredibly strong. He often spoke about their close relationship and the hard times they faced together in interviews. His wife, Sunita, once shared that Govinda used to wash his mother’s feet on her birthday and drink the water as a sign of respect and love. Although Nirmala Devi passed away in 1996, Govinda continued to feel her presence deeply.
An Unseen Guest on Set
During the filming of ‘Life Partner’, a strange incident occurred on set. A source, who witnessed the event, revealed that a guest arrived, but only Govinda and his brother, Kirti Kumar, could see them. The others on set were unaware of this person’s presence. Govinda was late to the set that day and was chatting with someone only he could see. When Kirti arrived, he opened the car door as if someone was getting out.
A Mysterious Encounter
The person getting out of the car was invisible to everyone except Govinda and Kirti. After Kirti closed the car door, Govinda said, “Mummy’s here.” He got up, touched Kirti’s and the invisible person’s feet, and then asked Kirti to leave. Govinda then had an empty chair brought to the set, saying it was for his mother.
For two hours, Govinda talked to the empty chair. The crew was confused but soon realized he was conversing with his deceased mother’s spirit. The atmosphere on set was tense, with everyone watching in silence. Eventually, Govinda called Kirti back and asked him to take their mother home.
At home, Govinda would often tell guests that his mother was with him in his room. This incident on the ‘Life Partner’ set, as reported by ‘Mid Day’ in 2009, highlights the deep connection Govinda shared with his mother, even after her passing.
