The story of Nirav Modi, the diamond mogul accused of a $2 billion scam, is set to hit screens soon.
Vikram Malhotra’s production company, Abundantia Entertainment, is making a film about Modi’s rise and fall in collaboration with Netflix Original.
The Film’s Storyline
The film is based on the book “Flawed: The Rise and Fall of India’s Diamond Mogul, Nirav Modi.”
It will show how Modi became a top player in the international diamond jewelry industry and his subsequent downfall after the Punjab National Bank scam.
The story will cover Modi’s entry into the diamond trade, his involvement in India’s biggest banking scandal, and the impact of his actions on the country’s banking industry, politics, and economy.
Director Palash Vasvani, known for his work on the hit web series “Gullak,” is at the helm of this project.
Vasvani has previously directed “Gullak Season 2,” “Gullak 3,” and “Bada Naam Krega.”
The film is expected to release on Netflix in 2026.
Casting and Production
The makers are still looking for the lead actor to play Nirav Modi.
Several actors have been approached for the role, and the name is expected to be announced soon.
The film will go on floors later this year.
Abundantia Entertainment has also produced other films like “Chhori 2,” starring Nusrat Bharucha and Soha Ali Khan, which was recently released on Amazon Prime Video.
Nirav Modi is facing charges of criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust, cheating, corruption, money laundering, and breach of contract in connection with the PNB scam.
The Indian government filed these charges against him in August 2018.
