Elon Musk predicts that AI will be smarter than humans next year

The “superhuman” artificial intelligence According to Elon Musk, it could reach the point where it will surpass everyone on Earth by next year, unless the sector’s energy and computing needs become unsustainable by then.

The prediction follows an earlier statement from the billionaire who said the “superintelligent” artificial intelligence would arrive in 2029.

While “superhuman” is generally defined as more intelligent than any human at a given task, “superintelligent” is defined as more intelligent than the combined abilities of all humans at a given task.

I predict that by the end of next year we will probably have an AI that is smarter than any human. Last year there was a chip limitation. People couldn’t get enough Nvidia chips. This year it will be a voltage converter supply. In a year or two it will only be the power supply.

The businessman’s predictions are not always correct. In 2016, he incorrectly predicted that a Tesla could drive autonomously from New York to Los Angeles within two years.

That same year, he said his rocket company SpaceX would go to Mars in 2018; he hasn’t done it yet. And in 2017, Musk suggested that his brain chip startup Neuralink’s first product would come to market “in about four years.” Seven years later, the first person received an implant from the company.
