In mid-October we saw that Bungie promised an optimized version of Destiny 2 for the new generation of consoles. With that, the Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PlayStation 5 received the update, as promised, now in December.
And, with the arrival of the updated version for the new consoles from Sony and Microsoft, the ElAnalistaDeBits channel on YouTube published a video in which it compares the execution of the game on the three devices of the new generation.
According to the person responsible for the material, the game has basically the same performance on the most powerful consoles, that is, on the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X. He highlights that both the Sony and Microsoft video games run the title at 60 fps on campaign mode and 120 fps in PVP mode, with a resolution of 2160 pixels in both cases. Microsoft’s input device is limited to a resolution of 1080 pixels.
However, he points out that the anti-aliasing feature is much more noticeable on the PS5 than on the Xbox Series X and this makes Microsoft console fans have a clearer picture. With the few differences noted, the analyst concludes that the choice of the console to play Destiny 2 must be more for the taste of the brand than for the performance of the game.
It is worth mentioning that the Destiny 2 update for the new generation also presents some other improvements, as highlighted by the developer:
.We’re offering Field of View customization on consoles for the first time. Our goal is to enable a FOV range similar to that of the PC. We are currently testing these configurations to ensure smooth performance on each platform and we will have additional details closer to launch.
.There will be noticeable improvements in details like loading the game and inspecting the character inventory. However, some load times depend on networks and matchmaking. So, loading activities still take time while you search for opponents.
.To play across generations, Xbox Series X | S players can play with Xbox One players. PlayStation 5 players can play with PlayStation 4 players.
Destiny 2 has been available worldwide for PS4, Xbox One and PC since 2017 and its update for PS5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S arrived in December 2020.
