Delivery robots have an unexpected problem when arriving at a traffic light

The British cooperative Co-op is testing six-wheeled autonomous vehicles capable of transporting up to 10 kilos of food inside.

However, a problem arose, since they have to ask the humans for help to press the button that activates the green traffic light at intersections.

were also seen queue up to five of the robots at the junctions waiting for someone to push the button.

These 36 kg robots can detect pedestrians, dogs and cars and are programmed to wait at red lights and not cross red lights. Although they can see with their 4D cameras, they cannot press the button to cross.

According to robot maker Starship Technologies: “On the rare occasion that assistance is needed, they can be monitored remotely.”

Shoppers can use the robots to order from home via an app, before store workers pack up to 10kg of food.
