The Windows update KB5034765 from Microsoft Patchday on February 13, 2024 is becoming a nightmare for many Windows 11 users. Because new problems are becoming known that the important security update KB5034765 is causing on Windows 11 machines that have previously worked perfectly.

But while Microsoft remains silent about all these other problems, the Redmond company has at least confirmed the installation failure and the error message 0x800F0922 here (for Windows 11 version 23H2 and Windows 11 version 22H2):
Windows 11 devices that attempt to install the February 2024 security update (KB5034765) released on February 13, 2024 may experience installation errors and the system may stop responding at 96%.
As a result of this error, you may receive the following message:
“Something didn’t go as planned. No need to worry – changes will be reverted. Please leave the computer on”.
This issue may appear in Windows Event Viewer with error code “0x800F0922”.
Microsoft is working on a solution to the problem and wants to provide an update for it. Until it is released (Microsoft does not give a date), Microsoft advises the following interim solution:
This problem can be prevented by deleting the hidden folder C:\$WinREAgent. A restart may be required. If you followed these steps, the installation of the February 2024 security update should be successful.
