PS5 players will soon have an alternative to Spotify for listening to music, as users have noticed that Sony is already preparing for the arrival of Apple Music on its console. It could be that the service will be officially available on October 18th.
From Disney Plus to YouTube, the PS5 has many of the most popular entertainment apps ready to download. However, since its release last year, the Sony console offers only one music streaming service: Spotify. This one could soon be joined by Apple Music.
Indeed, a user on Reddit noticed on the interface of his PS5 that Apple’s music application was available for download directly to its console. However, when he selected the “download” option, he was informed that “this app is only usable on PS4”. It’s quite odd, since the ps4 also doesn’t have the Apple Music app, so it might just be a classic error message. As a result of this discovery, many other users also reported that the application appeared in the menu, but was currently inaccessible.
Sony will soon deploy Apple Music on its PS5
Since the application is not actually usable, it is likely that Sony is simply testing Apple Music, and that the app could be officially available to everyone in the coming weeks.
Its arrival is not really a surprise, since it was hard to imagine Spotify remaining the only alternative for music on the PS5. What’s more, Sony recently announced a partnership with Apple for its Apple TV + service, giving PS5 owners free access to that service for six months. It is therefore normal to see Apple wanting to deploy its other applications on the console.
For now, it’s unclear exactly when Apple Music might be officially available on the PS5, but it’s not impossible that Apple will raise the subject during its event on October 18. It is on this occasion that the company will unveil its new MacBook M1X, the technical characteristics of which we already know. It could therefore be that the American giant quickly announces the arrival of Apple Music on the PS5.
