After months of rumors and delays, the AirPods 3 were finally unveiled today (18) at the Unleashed event. Apple’s new headphones target the entry market in this segment, priced at € 199.
As predicted, the AirPods 3 arrive with a new design, now inspired by the AirPods Pro. Although with many similarities to the top model, they arrive without the much-hyped active noise cancellation.
AirPods 3 brings new design and spatial audio
The AirPods 3 are finally presented and stand out above all for these two pillars: new design and support for Spacial Audio. These will be the main vectors that will distinguish the new model from the rest of Apple’s entry-level offerings.
In terms of design, the AirPods 3 are smaller than any of their predecessors. This was due to the strong inspiration in the AirPods Pro, evident in their smaller arms and silicone tips.
However, contrary to what happens with professionals, the silicone tips of the AirPods 3 are unique. In other words, you will not be able to choose the tip size that best suits your ear. With the new headphones, Apple is aiming for universality.
Another advantage of AirPods 3 is compatibility with Apple’s Spacial Audio. This technology gives a new sensation of listening to music in the Apple ecosystem, with a unique three-dimensional feeling.
Even the entry model of Apple’s audio portfolio now supports Spatial Audio. It means that more users will be able to take advantage of the Apple Music subscription.
AirPods 3 promise up to 30 hours of battery life
None of the above matters if the AirPods 3 don’t have enough power to keep up with you on a daily basis. In this sense, Apple reinforced the autonomy of its wireless headphones.
During the presentation, Apple promised up to 30 hours of continuous playback with the AirPods 3. These values include the additional charge provided by the charging and carrying case of the headphones.
When separated from this, AirPods 3 provides up to 6 hours of playback. For those in a hurry, 5 minutes of charging will be enough for an extra hour of playback.
When loading we now have the inclusion of MagSafe connectivity. This means that AirPods 3 supports wireless charging, just like the iPhone.
