From April 7, 2024, Aldi will be offering the Beast The previous version of the Beast X40 with 13900 HX processor received the “Editor’s Recommendation” award in our test. Our conclusion:
The price of the Erazer Beat X40 is generous – but so is its performance. Nvidia’s new top GPU Geforce RTX 4090 sets new speed standards in Medion’s gaming notebook, as does Intel Core i9. Almost all games run without any problems at maximum settings – and if the GPU is actually overwhelmed, Nvidia’s new upscaling technology DLSS3 ensures that the game runs smoothly. Despite the powerful performance, the X40 is neither excessively loud nor does it get noticeably hot. The rest of the equipment, including the mechanical keyboard, is at an equally high level; only the 17-inch display is more decent than great.
So these are initially good conditions for gamers, because Medion combines the powerful graphics chips with a maximum GPU power of a very high 175 watts each with the flagship processor Intel Core i9-14900HX in the current Beast X40. The 24 core can process up to 32 threads in parallel. The eight performance cores run at a base clock frequency of 2.2 GHz and a turbo clock of up to 5.8 GHz. The efficiency cores clock at 1.6 to 4.1 GHz. The very high clock speed is optimal for gaming, but the Intel CPU sucks up to 157 watts from the notebook power supply in turbo mode.
The special features of the gaming duo include the 240 Hertz fast 17-inch screen. The matte IPS display has a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels. There is also the RGB-illuminated keyboard, which uses the quality Cherry MX Ultra Low Profile switches.
