This is OPPO’s first foldable smartphone and it has set the bar at a very high level. First of all, because of the integrated hinge system that not only hides the fold of the screen quite well, but also allows the terminal to close (almost) perfectly.

It was launched in December 2021 and therefore integrates an older processor, the Snapdragon 888, which is combined with up to 12 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of capacity. It’s also powered by a 4,500mAh battery with 33W fast charging.

The inner screen is 7.1 inches, with a resolution of 1920×1792 pixels, a refresh rate of 120 Hz and even support for HDR10 +, while the outer one is 5.49 inches and has a resolution of 1972×988 pixels.

The good news is that the brand is already working on a successor to this foldable device that could raise OPPO’s bar even higher.

If it weren’t for the absence of Google services, the Huwei Mate XS risks being the best foldable on the market. Bringing with it a new folding concept, the huge eight-inch 2480×2200 pixel main screen folds down to form a 6.6-inch 2480×1148 pixel secondary screen.

Inside it houses the brand-owned Kirin 990 processor and 8 GB of RAM plus 512 GB of internal storage. Optically, it has a 40-megapixel primary sensor, a 16-megapixel ultra-wide sensor, and an eight-megapixel telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom.

It is powered by a 4,500 mAh battery with a 55-watt fast charge, one of the fastest in its segment. Since it was released in February 2020, it’s still pretty current. If it wasn’t for the absence of Google services…

Unlike its “cousin” Mate, the P50 Pocket is equipped with a Qualcomm processor, the Snapdragon 888 with support for 4G communications only and paired with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage capacity.

With a design very similar to the Flip, Samsung’s rival, when opened the P50 Pocket shows a 6.9-inch screen with 2790×1188 pixels, and when folded it gives access to an external screen of just 1.04 inches.

Strong commitment to photographic arguments, with a 40 megapixel primary sensor complemented by a 13 megapixel ultra wide angle and an Ultra sensor with 32 megapixel resolution. It also has a 4,000 mAh battery, capable of providing 40 watts of fast charging.

4. Google Pixel Fold or Notepad

But the Galaxy Z Flip 4 brings with it two important new features. First of all, it integrates a larger battery than its predecessor, 3,700 mAh, and which also brings with it a faster charge of 25 watts.

The other relevant update is the integration of the new Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor that will be combined with 8 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of internal storage.

It will arrive in Europe with a price of 1,109 euros in the most basic variant and with a cost of 1,169 euros for the version with 256 GB of internal storage.
