Xiaomi Automobile has just announced the launch of mass production of its first electric cars in the first half of 2024. CEO Lei Jun confirmed the matter on Twitter.
As you know, many smartphone and high-tech manufacturers have decided to enter the electric car market. This is particularly the case with Apple with the Apple Car, which is expected to be released in 2024, or even Huawei, which was recently authorized to buy American components for its future electric car.
Xiaomi also made known its ambitions very quickly on the subject, by announcing in March 2021 the imminent arrival of its first electric car. A few days later, CEO Lei Jun gave some details about this electric car, namely that it will be a sedan or an SUV which will be priced between 100,000 and 300,000 yuan.

A further step is taken at the start of the 2021 school year, where the brand formalizes the existence of Xiaomi Automobile, its brand new subsidiary. And justly, the Chinese firm has just unveiled the next phase. According to our colleagues at Reuters, CEO Lei Jun told investors in a telephone meeting that Xiaomi will launch mass production of its first electric cars from the first half of 2024.
After the publication of the Reuters article, the boss of the manufacturer confirmed the news on Twitter. Results, Xiaomi stock jumped 5.4% to HK $ 22.50, the largest daily percentage increase since May 12, extending its gains for the third consecutive session.
As a reminder, Xiaomi plans to invest no less than $ 10 billion in its new automotive division over the next ten years. Moreover, the company has stepped up recruitment for Xiaomi Automobile, although it is not yet known whether it intends to call on a car manufacturer to help it with the task.
For example, rumors suggest that Apple could work with Toyota to produce the Apple Car as early as 2024. Nevertheless, this information should be taken with a grain of salt, several well-known leakers specializing in Apple products such as McGuire Wood claiming that these statements are totally wrong. In the absence of official communication from Apple, caution is in order.
