Xiaomi is in a phase of renaming its smartphones. The Mi range disappeared, and the newly launched Xiaomi 11T and 11T Pro lost the “Mi” of the previous models.
This will happen in the next flagship of the brand, the Xiaomi 12, which will be the successor to the Xiaomi Mi 11. This new model may arrive with a very different design than expected, according to a patent that has now been registered.
According to the website LetsGoDigital, Beijing Xiaomi Mobile Software submitted this data to the World Intellectual Property Office on September 25, 2020. This documentation for a Xiaomi smartphone was accepted on October 15, 2021.
Xiaomi 12 may arrive with an unexpected camera design
“It is a Xiaomi mobile phone with a modern design, rounded corners and a curved screen. The device has very narrow panel edges, only a small frame is visible at the top and bottom. A drilled hole was placed in the upper left corner for the front camera. The screen is also more rounded than, for example, the Mi 11 series, ”it reads.
Taking into account the curved screen and the thin edges, everything indicates that it is a top-of-the-range device. In addition, an arrangement with three rear cameras is seen, where a periscope sensor will be highlighted.
There is no confirmation that this equipment reaches the market. But a few months after the launch of the Xiaomi 12, this patent suggests that it may be one of the designs to consider for the new models.
