An Air India flight from Delhi to San Francisco, USA was diverted to Magadan, Russia due to engine failure.
According to the statement issued by Air India, the flight has been safely landed in Russia. There was a technical problem in one of the aircraft’s engines.
Air India said flight AI173 from Delhi to San Francisco, carrying 216 passengers, experienced a technical engine failure but all passengers are safe and being cared for at Russia’s Magadan airport.
The statement said that all assistance is being provided to the passengers and alternative arrangements will be made to reach their destination as soon as possible. Apologies for that.
Incidents of technical malfunctions in Air India’s planes are increasing. An Air India flight from Chennai to Singapore was diverted to Malaysia in April this year.
