India’s star batsman Virat Kohli has shown great form first in the Asian Cup and then in the series against Australia. With his excellent form, Virat Kohli has given a well-deserved answer to those who questioned his permanence in the team. Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar said veteran batsman Virat Kohli’s confidence is steadily rising after returning to the team after a long break.

Cricketer-turned-analyst Manjrekar said he can see the return of the former Kohli. He also said that the experienced hitters are really enjoying his skills. Manjrekar feels this bodes well for the Indian team with the T20 World Cup in Australia next month.

Manjrekar said: “He has improved his batting by scoring runs in every Asian Cup game. I think the former Kohli is back. It depends on his power play. There was a time when he scored runs. But his power play was it’s not going at his command, but now it’s started to happen. Virat Kohli is getting back into his groove. Now he needs to hit well in the T20 World Cup.”

Manjrekar also gave his thoughts on what went wrong for pacemakers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Harshal Patel in the India-Australia series. He realized that Bhuvi, who is currently India’s most experienced fast bowler, is playing too much cricket for his own good. His poor form is due to exhaustion.

Manjrekar said that Harshal Patel has limitations as a fast bowler but India should look for a third fast bowling option and it could be Mohammed Shami. However, Mohammed Shami has remained in the reserve of players for the T20 World Cup.
