Vice President of Colombia speaks out against J Balvin and his theme “Perra” with Tokischa

The Vice President and Foreign Minister of Colombia, Marta Lucia Ramírez, spoke out against the song “Perra” by the Colombian singer J Balvin and the Dominican Tokischa.

Ramírez and the presidential advisor for Equity for Women, Gheidy Gallo released a letter showing their position on the importance of defending women’s rights in that country.

They forcefully rejected the song ‘Perra’ and its video clip because they violate women’s rights and affect their dignity.

According to Colombian media, the letter mentions that the video shows Afro-descendant women with dog ears, tied with neck chains and crawling on the floor as if they were animals or slaves.

As if this were not enough, the lyrics of the song have direct and open sexist, racist, macho and misogynistic expressions that violate the rights of women, comparing them to an animal that must be dominated and mistreated, with expressions that are not worth repeating”Says the statement signed by Marta Lucía Ramírez.

Also, in conjunction with Gheidy Gallo, they said: "We publicly invite the singer J Balvin and the music and record industry to sign a pact that includes various commitments to promote the rights of women in music, a scenario in which we hope to have the Externado de Colombia University and other universities whose work has been highlighted on the subject".

This is not the first time that the issue has sparked controversy, a few weeks ago the same fans criticized the controversial issue that already has almost 10 million views on YouTube alone.

In the video clip you can see women dressed as dogs, suggestive dances and multiple sexual references, as well as phrases such as “I’m a stray bitch with the popola de race”, among others, highlighted El Heraldo.
