Unified Council defends transparency in the tender for the purchase of electrical materials

The Unified Council of Electricity Distribution Companies denied that companies were selectively excluded during the bidding process of purchases of electrical materials for the distributors Edesur, Edeeste and Edenorte.

Through a press release they reported that a clear and transparent process was carried out, with the same rules for all the participants, attached to Law 340-06 and with a view to obtaining better prices for the State.

The Council clarified that, for the first time in history, the average of 30% of suppliers participating in the bidding process was exceeded, reaching 53% thanks to the 80 companies that participated as a sign of transparency during the purchasing process.

Qualified companies
The entity explained that the bidding process for purchases of electrical materials is still open. So far 44 companies have been authorized. Regarding the companies that claimed to be excluded, the Council detailed that 6 of these companies are qualified for the process.

He explained that there are 12 refusals to companies because it is the first time that so many companies have been enabled. At the same time, he clarified that a challenge does not mean that there is an irregularity, but that the applicant company must review pending points with the Council.

It added that the challenges are reviewed as part of the rectification process and that, at this stage, after re-evaluating, 25 companies were authorized, demonstrating the transparency of the process. Currently, the tender for purchases of electrical materials has 14 challenges, of which only 6 are from.

The Unified Council explained that the reasons why a provider is not qualified are because at the time of the evaluation it does not meet the specifications in the legal, financial or technical areas.
