Ukrainian President visits the front line in Donbas

Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky visited his troops on the front line in Donbas (east), the area with the most intense fighting and a priority objective of the Russian invasion, on Sunday.

Zelensky visited command posts and front positions in Lysychansk, a city separated by the Donets River from Severodonetsk, where the Ukrainians are repelling the Russian advance, which was about to take the town.

He also went to Bakhmut, about 50 km to the southwest, and spoke with some soldiers, the presidential service said.

"I want to thank you for the great work, your service, protecting us all, our State. I am grateful to all"told them. "Take care!"he added.

During his visit, Zelensky "got acquainted with the operational situation on the defense front"indicated the presidency.

"I’m proud of everyone I’ve met, shaken hands with, communicated with, supported"Zelensky said during his usual evening speech after his trip.

The president also traveled to Zaporizhia, in the south, where he met several residents of Mariupol who managed to leave the port city destroyed by months of Russian bombing.

"Every family has its story. Most were without men"said.

"One husband went to war, another was a captive, another unfortunately died. A tragedy. Homeless, without the person he loved. But they have to live for the children. true heroes"praised Zelensky, who already visited the front at the end of May.
