Kiev (BLAZETRENDS).- The Ukrainian army announced today that its troops have advanced more than a kilometer in the last 24 hours around the city of Bakhmut, located in the Donetsk Oblast in eastern Ukraine and occupied by Russia.

“The (Ukrainian) armed forces maintain their momentum there, put pressure on the enemy, carry out assault actions, advance on the northern and southern flanks,” announced the commander of the Eastern Command of the Ukrainian army, Sergei Cherevati, in a speech on the national television news service.

Cherevatí added that the kyiv troops recovered “more than a kilometer” in that area during the past day.

The spokesman of the Ukrainian General Staff, Andri Kovalov, declared today that the Ukrainian forces continue their offensive actions north and south of Bakhmut.

Kovalov also affirmed that the Ukrainian troops are consolidating between intense combats the ground that they have gained in the last hours in the area of Klishchivka, south of Bakhmut.

Ukraine launched a land counteroffensive more than a month ago that is taking place in Bakhmut and two other sectors of the front located in the southeast of the country.

Kiev assures that the campaign is in an initial reconnaissance phase, in which small units try to identify Russian weak points and then mobilize more troops in the most propitious areas to break the defense lines.

Meanwhile, Ukraine tries with artillery, missiles and drones to destroy Russian positions, weapons and troop concentrations that sometimes reveal the charges of units that have already gone on the offensive.
