The Romantics is a Netflix docuseries that celebrates the rich cultural legacy of Yash Chopra and YRF films in Bollywood and romance. The trailer highlights the impact YRF has had on shaping the Hindi film industry across the globe for over 50 years.
The global streaming giant has released the trailer for the documentary series in 190 countries. The trailer is also subtitled in more than 32 world languages, given Bollywood’s global reach.
Monika Shergill, Vice President of Content at Netflix India, has this to say about the documentary:
“He is fondly remembered as The King of Romance. Yash Chopra’s films brought a new wave of emotion, individualism and cultural change to Hindi cinema. And he managed to turn one of the largest film industries in the world into what it is today.
“To celebrate iconic songs, stories and nostalgia, we partnered with creative powerhouses YRF and Smriti Mundra to bring The Romantics to our global audience. The gripping documentary series tells the true story of Yash Chopra and his son Aditya Chopra and how they built a world-class production company. The series offers audiences a glimpse into the life of one of the most influential families in Bollywood film history.”
The Romantics is scheduled for release on February 14. And pays homage to the ‘King of Romance; Yash Chopra.
The documentary is directed by Smriti Mundhra, who is returning to Netflix after the phenomenal success of Indian Matchmaking and the Never Have I Ever franchise.
