Mumbai Indians piled on 205 runs against Delhi Capitals in their latest IPL 2025 clash, marking their second consecutive score above 200. Tilak Varma was the star of the show, smashing 59 off just 33 balls, including six fours and three sixes. This was his second successive half-century, following a 46-ball 56 against RCB. With this knock, Varma reached 210 runs across six matches, his two fifties propelling him up the order.
Tilak Varma Takes Center Stage
When Ryan Rickelton fell at 75, Varma came in to steady the innings. Partnering Suryakumar Yadav for 60 runs, the pair provided some much-needed stability. Yadav chipped in with 40 off 28 balls. Although Hardik Pandya got out early, Varma bounced back with Naman Dhir, the pair adding 62 for the final wicket. Dhir struck 38 off 17 balls, showcasing his explosive batting.
Orange Cap Race Heats Up
Varma’s impressive knock put him in contention for the coveted Orange Cap. He’s now Mumbai Indians’ second-highest run-scorer this season, just behind Suryakumar Yadav’s 239 runs. Nicholas Pooran tops the list with 349 runs for Lucknow Super Giants, but Varma’s form could soon see him challenge for the top spot. Will Mumbai Indians continue their strong batting form, or will Delhi Capitals bounce back? The battle for the top spot is heating up.
