The bus crash on October 26 is still making headlines.
New Theory Emerges
Bus company Cutcsa has presented a new theory to prosecutor Sandra Fleitas and the lawyers of the crash victims.
They claim the driver had an “epileptic seizure” at the time of the accident.
Some passengers have reached a settlement with Cutcsa, while one victim’s case will go to trial.
Diego Moreno represents one of the victims who didn’t settle.
“Our client hasn’t agreed to a settlement,” he says.
“The number of passengers agreeing to settlements has been decreasing.
We prefer to continue with both the criminal and civil trials.”
Moreno’s client suffered a severe spinal injury and is still undergoing treatment.
The injury has left them unable to work, and the emotional toll has been significant.
The client even had a panic attack when they got back on a bus at their psychologist’s request.
In contrast, Gumer Pérez, the lawyer for another victim, did reach a settlement.
“The victim I represent has agreed on a compensation amount with the prosecutor’s office,” Pérez explains.
The varying outcomes highlight the complexity of the case and the different paths victims are taking to seek justice.
