Samsung yesterday introduced the new folding Galaxy Z Flip3 and Galaxy Z Fold3, which come with several improvements over their predecessors.
The Galaxy Z Fold3 is Samsung’s first smartphone with a camera under the screen. It’s a 4MP camera that’s semi-hidden under the screen pixels, while its predecessor Galaxy Z Fold2 had a 10MP camera in a hole in the screen.
Curiously, the Galaxy Z Flip3 lacks this technology. If you’re wondering why, here’s what the company has to say about it.
According to Sammobile, Samsung representatives explained that the Galaxy Z Fold3 has an ideal format for a camera under the screen. In other words, a bigger screen is needed for its implementation.
Representatives also say that Selfies are a most important aspect of the Galaxy Z Flip3. Therefore, it comes with an ordinary 10MP camera in a perforated hole. This suggests that the camera under the screen does not offer as good quality as the drill camera.
Recently, a manager at Xiaomi spoke in the same way regarding the camera under the screen of the Xiaomi Mi MIX 4, which is not ideal for those taking a lot of selfies.
Regardless, as technology improves as it ages with new iterations, We can see a Galaxy Z Flip smartphone with a camera under the screen in the not-too-distant future.
