A dramatic scene unfolded on Monday afternoon when a police officer, out for a mountain bike ride with a friend, found himself face-to-face with a group of brazen thieves. The incident took place in the Conciliación neighborhood, at the intersection of Camino Lecocq and Millán.
The Confrontation
As the officer and his companion pedaled along, three robbers approached them on a motorcycle, intent on stealing their bikes. The thieves began to scuffle with the officer’s friend, and despite being outnumbered, they managed to make off with the bicycles. But that wasn’t the end of it – more men arrived, armed and looking for trouble.
The officer, who was off-duty and unarmed, decided to take a stand against the robbers. A fierce fight ensued, during which one of the thieves bit down on the officer’s right thumb.
Aftermath
Police from the URPM Zone 4 unit arrived at the scene and rushed the injured officer to the Police Hospital. He will need a skin graft to treat his wound. Meanwhile, the robbers made their escape, fleeing on the stolen motorcycles and bicycles. The whole incident was captured on surveillance cameras, which News Agency was able to access. So far, no arrests have been made.
