The man who stole one this Tuesday automobile with a five-year-old child inside, in the neighborhood The Tile. The crimes charged were assault and misdemeanor theft.
“It was understood that the deprivation of liberty did not correspond to the facts and the evidence we had,” explained prosecutor Lucía Nogueira.
He will be remanded in custody for 120 days to continue the investigation.
“In his defense he stated that he was very sorry, that he really did not know that there was a child in the vehicle, that he was under the influence of drugs and that he was not aware of such circumstances,” the prosecutor added.
The offense of assault is injuring the child’s mother when she collided with her car.
“He says there was no direct intent to cause these injuries, but they are there,” he said.
The prosecutor said about the defendant that he suffered from serious addiction problems, was homeless and “in a difficult life situation.”
