The PS5 Pro is already in the hands of some developers according to a report

Rumors about the PlayStation 5 Pro existed long before the original console was released in 2020.

The PlayStation 5 has gone through several revisions since then, but so far we haven’t heard anything officially about a Pro variant. That could change in the next year or two, according to a new report.

Tez2, an industry information source, says This one many developers have already received PS5 Pro devkitsor as they call it, “half-life upgrade kits”.

Those who can’t expect to see one in early 2023. Sadly, the Tez2 doesn’t reveal much about its technical specs. Also, if the featured PlayStation 5 devkits are anything to go by, their specs will look nothing like the retail version.

Among other things, it’s likely to include a more powerful AMD APU with some RDNA 3, a better cooling solution to keep temperatures in check, and, hopefully, a 2TB hard drive.

If the above rumor is true, it would be reasonable to assume thatand PlayStation 5 Pro will be released between mid and late 2024. The previous generation of PlayStation 4 Pro was released three years after the original. A delay of four years (or even five) between this generation’s Pro variant and the regular one is understandable, as the PlayStation 5 remains in short supply two years after its announcement.

The PlayStation 5 is already starting to show its age, with several upcoming titles like Tale of a Plague: Requiem s Gotham Knights, they are locked at 4K 30 FPS. Even the most optimized games struggle to run at 4K 60 FPS with ray tracing, something a decent spec PC can do.
