The pope donates medical supplies to be sent to Ukraine

Pope Francis has donated medical supplies to be sent to Ukraine in the coming days to help a population that is suffering from the invasion of Russia, reported the head of the Vatican beggar, Polish Cardinal Konrad Krajewski.

Through the alms, the organization that is in charge of carrying out charitable works on behalf of the pope, Francisco sent medical supplies to the Basilica of Santa Sofía in Rome, a point of reference for the Ukrainian community and from where for days Truckloads of food and subsistence items leave for the Ukraine.

Today the pontifical beggar personally took charge of bringing to that basilica "the help and closeness of the pope, taking up an appeal launched in recent days by the Ukrainian community in Italy asking for medical supplies"explained the Vatican.

In this first donation there are syringes, plasters, disinfectants and other material and it is "of a first intervention that will be followed by a next one with the delivery of medicines"according to the Holy See.

"The Vatican is always ready to help those in need, it does not look at nationality but at the man in need"explained the Polish cardinal.

Francis instituted for today a day of fasting and prayer for peace in Ukraine and during the audience, taking advantage of the fact that one of the readers was Ukrainian, he recalled "to all the people who are suffering from the bombardments and to so many elderly people who are in underground shelters to defend themselves".
