Thailand jails 28 years for anti-king Facebook post

A court in Thailand has sentenced a man to 28 years in prison for posting on Facebook against the king.

According to the foreign news agency in Thailand, there is a law of imprisonment of 3 to 15 years for insulting the royal family, including the king, under this law, many people have been sentenced in the last 3 years.

27-year-old Mong Khun Tharakot is the latest victim of this law. He is said to be from the northern province of Chiang Rai in Thailand.

Mong Khun Tharakot was accused of making insulting posts on Facebook against the country’s current and former king.

The judge sentenced Mong Khun Tharakot to 3 years imprisonment on each post, which makes a total of 42 years, reducing his sentence to 28 years for cooperating with the investigation on behalf of the accused.
