What is the Super Over Rule?
Super Over was introduced in T-20 cricket in 2008. At the same time, it was used in the ODI for the first time in 2011. Super Over is used when both teams' scores are equal. But to determine the outcome of the match, both teams will have the opportunity to play one over each as part of the Super Over and the outcome of the match will be determined.
Why was the Super Over played twice in the India-Afghanistan match?
Actually, the last game of the 2019 World Cup was a draw. After that, the Super Over between the two teams also ended in a draw. In such a situation, the teams that hit more fours and sixes throughout the match won, resulting in the English team becoming champions. For this decision by the ICC, many questions were raised about this rule. Afterwards, the ICC changed this rule. According to the new rule, the Super Over will now continue until the result of the game is announced.
