Sunny Deol’s Film ‘Jatt’ Sparks Controversy Over Hurting Christian Sentiments in Punjab

A controversial scene in Sunny Deol and Randeep Hooda’s film ‘Jatt’ has sparked outrage among the Christian community. The scene, which depicts Randeep Hooda standing inside a church and firing shots, has been deemed offensive and hurtful to the community’s sentiments. The film, released on April 10, has been met with widespread protests in Punjab, with calls for the makers to be booked under FIR.

The Christian community has taken umbrage with a particular scene where Randeep Hooda is shown standing in a church, claiming to have been sent by Jesus Christ, and threatening goons before opening fire. The community has alleged that this scene is a deliberate attempt to misrepresent their faith and has demanded that the makers take immediate action.

Community Protests and Demands

The Christian community has submitted a written complaint to the Joint Police Commissioner of Jalandhar, demanding that an FIR be registered against the film’s makers. They have given the police an ultimatum of two days to take action, failing which they will intensify their protests. The community has threatened to gherao cinema halls across Punjab if their demands are not met. On April 14, the community had planned to protest outside cinemas, but the police managed to persuade them to call off the protest.

According to a report by Dainik Bhaskar, the Christian community’s complaint states that Randeep Hooda’s character is shown standing in a church, surrounded by people praying, and claiming to have been sent by Jesus Christ. The complaint alleges that this scene is a sacrilegious representation of their faith and its symbols. The community has warned that if the police fail to take action within the given timeframe, they will mobilize their groups and make a bigger announcement. The Christian community is urging the authorities to take immediate action against the film’s makers for hurting their religious sentiments.
