Ishan Kishan Accused of Match Fixing After Bizarre Dismissal in IPL Match Against SRH

Sunrisers Hyderabad crumbled to 143 runs on their home ground, handing Mumbai Indians a 7-wicket victory. The match was marred by controversy when Ishan Kishan walked off without an appeal from the Mumbai Indians players. The umpire had initially signaled a wide, but Kishan’s decision to leave the field forced him to call Kishan out.

A Bizarre Dismissal

The incident occurred during Deepak Chahar’s third over. Kishan attempted to play a delivery down the leg side but missed, and the ball went straight to the keeper. Before the ball could bounce, Kishan began walking back to the pavilion leaving the umpire no choice but to give him out. Replays showed Kishan was not out. The lack of appeal from the Mumbai Indians players added to the confusion.

Social Media Backlash

The incident sparked outrage on social media, with many accusing Kishan and the Mumbai Indians of match-fixing. Fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to express their displeasure. One user, Cricket Glimpse, wrote: “This is how match fixing looks like, no one even appeals. Umpire was ready to make a decision of wide but suddenly he raised his finger and gave that out.” Another user, Jayprakash Tiwari, wrote: “Once a fixer, always a FIXER. No bat, no gloves, no appeal — Ishan Kishan just walked out! Umpire standing like a 🤡 MATCH FIXED. That’s my tweet.”

Mumbai Indians’ Dominant Win

Mumbai Indians chased down the target of 144 runs with ease, thanks to Rohit Sharma’s 70 off 45 balls and Suryakumar Yadav’s cameo 40 off 19 balls. The team won the match by 7 wickets, with 26 balls to spare. Hardik Pandya’s Mumbai Indians moved to third place in the points table with this victory.
