Estrellas, primer equipo que llega a 10 victorias

On Wednesday, Las Estrellas became the first team to reach ten victories in the 2021-2022 autumn-winter baseball tournament after beating the Leones del Escogido 3-2, in a match held at the Tetelo Vargas Stadium in this city.

With the victory, the Paquidermos continue firmly in the first position of the championship dedicated to the memory of General Kalil Haché and in which the Banreservas Cup is played, one game ahead of the Gigantes del Cibao, who beat the Águilas Cibaeñas in the Julián Javier Stadium in San Francisco de Macorís.

Robinson Canó led the No. 5 All-Star win at home, hitting 3-1 with two RBIs, increasing to six the games in which he has shot for no-man’s-land.

The victory was credited to Ramón Santos (2-0), while the reverse went to Penn Murffe (0-1). The save was scored by Wirfin Obispo, his sixth of the tournament.

The reverse of the scarlets places him in third place, with a mark of 8-9, tied with Águilas, Toros del Este and Tigres del Licey, respectively.

For the Stars started Kutter Crawford, who had four 1/3 innings of six hits, two runs (one earned), one transfer and three strikeouts to bring his ERA to 0.49.

He was replaced by Matt Pobereyko (0.2), Ramón Santos (0.1), Domingo Acevedo (1.0), Ronel Blanco (1.0) and Wirfin Obispo (1.0).

For the Lions, Cristopher Molina started with a performance of four innings and two thirds of four hits, two runs and three fans. He was relieved by Penn Murfee (2.1) and Fernando Rodney (1.0).

The races

The Stars numbered the house at the close of the first inning. Socrates Brito doubled to right field; Jeremy Peña flied out to center field and Robinson Canó hit a sacrifice fly to center field.

The Scarlets matched the actions in the second episode. Aderlin Rodríguez singled to center field; Brett Sullivan grounded out for the first. On the play, Rodríguez was cornered and Jeremy Peña missed his shot, which the runner took advantage of to anchor until third; Eddys Leonard hit a sacrifice fly for the tying run.

At the end of that inning, the greens took control of the match again with a double down the right field from Christian Betancourt who drove Sandber Pimentel out of the second.

In the fifth, the Lions tied the shares again, this time on Anderson Feliz’s home run down right field.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, the Stars went up on the scoreboard with a double by Peña and an RBI single by Canó.
