Sri Lanka: The Sri Lankan Navy on Sunday arrested 51 people illegally leaving the country and going to Australia by sea. This information has been given by issuing an official statement. Due to the current economic crisis in Sri Lanka, a large number of people are trying to leave the country. This is the fourth incident in the last week that the Navy has arrested people trying to leave the country illegally. All the people were in a fishing boat in the sea. All the people were arrested after the boat was seized. These people were trying to leave the country illegally. The Sri Lankan Navy has given this information in a statement issued.

Everyone was leaving the country due to the economic crisis.

In a search operation conducted by the Navy in the Eastern Sea area this morning, a boat carrying 51 people was seized, a statement issued by the Navy said. All these people were trying to leave the country illegally and go to another country. Because of this everyone has been arrested.

Many people have already been arrested

Earlier on Saturday, a joint team of Sri Lanka’s Navy, Coast Guard and police arrested 24 people trying to illegally enter Australia via the West Coast. Similarly, on 27th and 28th June also more than 100 illegal migrants were arrested.

Significantly, after getting independence from British rule in 1948, Sri Lanka is currently facing a tremendous economic crisis. These days inflation is at its peak in Sri Lanka. People are on the streets due to the cost of petrol-diesel and other food items. The Sri Lankan government has failed to control inflation. Due to which there is resentment among the people there. However, India, being a neighboring country, has given assistance of $ 3.5 billion to Sri Lanka in the year 2022 itself to deal with the current crisis.
