A disturbing incident unfolded on a Southwest Airlines flight bound for Phoenix from Houston, Texas, when a female passenger stripped naked and walked up and down the aisle, screaming. The bizarre behavior forced the flight’s captain to abort takeoff, leaving the plane to return to the gate.
The unsettling events were captured on video by fellow passengers and later shared by KPNX, a television station in Phoenix. The footage shows the woman, completely nude, pacing back and forth in the cabin while shouting at the top of her lungs. This shocking display caused the flight, which had been preparing to depart from Houston’s Hobby Airport, to be delayed by over an hour.
According to eyewitnesses, the woman had been fully clothed and calm before the incident, walking to the front of the plane. She then suddenly began screaming loudly and proceeded to remove her clothing, sparking widespread alarm among the other passengers. Witnesses described the scene as chaotic, with many people left shocked and disturbed by the woman’s behavior.
Houston police reported that they received a call at 3:30 pm local time regarding a naked passenger causing a disturbance on the flight. Officers intervened, taking the woman into custody and transporting her to the Harris Health Ben Taub Hospital in Houston for a mental health evaluation. As of now, no charges have been filed against her, and her identity has not been released.
In response to the incident, Southwest Airlines released a statement on Thursday, explaining that local law enforcement had taken the passenger into custody after the plane returned to the gate. The airline also reached out to passengers on the affected flight to apologize for the delay.
The incident has raised concerns about the safety and well-being of passengers on commercial flights, highlighting the need for airlines and airports to be prepared to handle unexpected and potentially volatile situations.
