The first test match is being played between Australia and Sri Lanka at the Galle Stadium. The second day’s play ended but was affected by heavy rain and strong winds. Before the start of the day’s game at this historic Sri Lankan stadium, there was extensive destruction. While much of the stadium collapsed in the storm, a pane of glass also shattered and fell to the ground. Because of this, the outfielders had to scramble to get things fixed and the game took over two hours to start.

Spectators were reportedly not present at the stadium and the Australian team was about to land. In such a situation, no one was injured. In the video that went viral on social networks, the players of both teams are seen watching the entire scene from their locker rooms, while the outfielder had to work hard to cover the pitch.

Australia, with the help of Cameron Green and Alex Carey, took a 22-run lead over Sri Lanka at tea on the second day of the first Test on Thursday. Australia had scored 233 runs from five wickets up to the break, playing ahead of scoring 98 runs from three wickets on the night. After Usman Khawaja’s 71-run knockout, Green and Carey generated 84 runs for sixth wicket. With only two runs added to Australia’s score, the team lost the wicket to night watchman Travis Head, who scored six runs. Dhananjay de Silva, who was not spinning, caught his return with his own ball. Khawaja and Green added another two runs while rotating the strike. His strategy worked. The two shared a 57-run partnership for fifth wicket. But leg shaker Geoffrey Vandersay took the first wicket of the first Test from him by having Pathum Nisanka catch Khawaja on the square leg. Khawaja scored his 17th Test 50 in his 50th match, in which he played 130 balls and hit seven bounds. At the end of the day’s play, Cameron Green was ejected for 77 of 109 balls and Alex Carey scored 45 runs on 47 balls.
